"the dark pop of Dr. Ew's debut record, which is really melancholy but has this ambitious, orchestral aura about it. In places, it reminds me of Brian Wilson, fighting his demons to make a Beach Boys masterpiece that no one else understands. There's an endearing, gentle cheeriness about this whole affair, with plenty of special guests onhand to push the Doctor on through his pain in peppy bursts of driving rock, tender ballads, and timeless pop jams."
